Sesame Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine cornstarch, sesame seeds, salt, and black pepper. Toss the chicken pieces in the mixture until well coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces and cook until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and honey. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet and toss to coat it with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the chicken.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions.
  7. Serve the Sesame Chicken over steamed rice or noodles.
